Content feeds

The feeds below allow you to receive automatic updates every time there's new content.

You'll need to have a news reader to subscribe to a feed. The reader checks the feeds you are subscribed to and displays new content for you to read.

News feeds

Content feeds - how do they work?

Content feeds are provided using RSS. RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication, is a technology used to create text and audio content feeds. Web sites provide feeds so you can subscribe to their content and receive updates automatically. To use RSS feeds you will need a reader. A reader checks the feeds you are subscribed to and displays any new content. This means you don't have to check individual web sites for updates – the reader does it for you. You can get hold of a reader by downloading one to your computer. But the simplest way is to sign up to a free web-based service such as Bloglines.

To subscribe to a feed, you need to add it to your reader. For example, we've supplied our news as a content feed. To subscribe, click on the RSS button on the page. Then cut and paste the feed URL into the reader – simply follow the instructions in your reader. That's all you need to do. And whenever you want to see if your subscriptions have been updated, just open up your reader.
