Jimmy Carr in Rep of Ireland squad for next monthís UEFA Regions Cup qualifiers

Three St. Michael’s players are included in the Rep of Irelandís 18-man squad that departs for San Marino in March for the 2013 EUFA Regions Cup qualifiers.

The Leinster and Munster provinces that will again represent the Rep of Ireland Amateur team will consist of ten players that brought the silver medals home from the UEFA Regions Cup Final held in Portugal in June 2011.

Manager Gerry Smith has also selected players from the recent international against Scotland in Tipperary town. †One of these is St. Michaelís FC flying winger Jimmy Carr from Cappawhite, who will join his St. Michaelís teammates, Irish record-breaking captain James Walsh and Paul Breen.† There should have been four St. Michaelís players but Chris Higgins will miss the flight because of a niggling injury.

Another Co. Tipperary player travelling is goalkeeper Adrian Walsh from Carrick United who has been a regular since 2008.† Adrian is the current FAI Junior International Player 2012 and winner of the Annerville Award for Soccer 2012.

The squad that have been making weekly trips to Dublin for training since Christmas will play two friendlies against the Irish U21 team and Spain before departing for San Marino.

In the qualifiers, Ireland face England, Northern Ireland, and the hosts San Marino between the 6th and 10th March with only the group winner progressing to the Finals that will be staged in June at a venue yet to be decided.
