At the TSDL AGM on Monday 8th of June, the Committee of the TSDL congratulated the Burncourt Celtic and Vee Rovers club, for organising a trip to take a large number of their underage players to the Aviva Stadium for the recent friendly game against England.
During the trip, the young players were greeted by the Chief Executive of the FAI, Mr John Delaney, who welcomed the players, and used the occasion to present the players with awards won over the season in the TSSDL leagues.
The committee said that this was a fantastic idea i.e. taking young players to international games, and that it was important for clubs to remember that good underage set ups not only provided players for the future, but were also the next generation of football fans in Ireland.
The committee said that they would encourage other clubs to consider doing the same with their underage players, and that if any help or advice was asked of the committee, they would be delighted to help.
