Clonmel Celtic nominated for prestigious FAI Award

The Aviva Club of the Year recognises soccer clubs’ achievements and displays, on and off the field of play. The awards distinguish some of the finest football clubs in the country through various Award Categories culminating in the Aviva Club of the Year Award, and is much coveted by clubs as a signal of their pursuit of excellence in how they conduct their football business.

It is therefore a source of much pride to the TSDL, that one of the foremost clubs in the league, Clonmel Celtic, have been nominated as one of the 8 finalists in the competition for 2015.

On the field, Clonmel Celtic have been peerless this year, completing the clubs first ever TSDL Premier League and Tipperary Cup double. Outside of the league area, it has also distinguished itself by reaching the semi final stages of the Aviva FAI Junior Cup, and the quarter finals of the Munster Junior Cup.

But it has also shown a total commitment to providing football for as wide a range of teams and players, with a thriving youths section, with both schoolboys and schoolgirls teams, and a women’s team which also plays in the Tipperary Women’s League.

Not only though have they excelled on the field of play, but earlier this year added a new stand to Celtic Park on the by-pass in Clonmel, adding to what was already one of the finest football facilities in Junior football in the country.

The club received a cheque for €1500 from Aviva at the Ireland/England friendly game, and hope to add to that when the overall Aviva Club of the Year is announced at the end of the month.
