Clonmel Celtic 2-0 Clonmel Town
Celtic hosted Town for the second time in three weeks hoping to keep their pursuit of some silverware alive in the shield.
Both sides started brightly with chances created on both ends. It was Celtic who broke the deadlock on 30 minutes when Ewan Rumble played a great diagonal ball into the town box which Luke Hannigan headed home to open the scoring.
Celtic doubled their lead on 65 minutes when Jack Aylward broke through and forced a great save from Peter Carroll only for the ball to drop to Cillian Fitzgerald to finish from close range.
Celtic remained in control of the game for the remainder and play the Shield Final next week.
Youth Shield Division 2
Cashel Town 1-4 SC&K Utd (No report supplied)
Shanbally Utd 0-2 St Michael’s
In a game where the home team were tight on numbers it was the visitors St Michael’s who had the best of the early exchanges. Shanbally had chances too but failed to capitalise and on 27 minutes they were punished when Callum Sheehan got on the end of a good ball into the box to fire home from 12 yards. It stayed 0-1 to halftime.
In the second half Shanbally had to push on to get back into the game and Keelan Williams and Ruairi O’Callaghan were unlucky not to score. As the game entered the final quarter United picked up injuries and visibly tired and St Michael’s scored on the counterattack when Cian O’Connell got on the end of a ball over the top to fire past the advancing keeper from 14 yards to seal St Michael’s passage to the semi-final.
Mullinahone 3-2 (AET) Cahir Park
Mullinahone was the venue for a hotly anticipated shield quarter final between the two leading teams in the TSDL Division 2 youth league. On what was a scorcher of a day the two teams put on a fantastic display of hard but fair football. Mullinahone took the lead early when Jack Ryan clinically finished a great team move to put the hosts in the lead. However, this set back brought the best out of Cahir as they began peppering the Mullinahone goal with shots, hitting the bar twice. They deservedly equalised mid-way through the half when Jack Reagan rifled the ball past the Mullinahone keeper. Mullinahone began to lift their play again after this and were rewarded a penalty when Philly Dunne was brought down in the Cahir box. The Cahir keeper made a brilliant save however from the resulting penalty. This brought the teams in level at half time.
The second half continued with excellent play by both teams. It was Cahir who scored next when Jack Butler shot from inside the box and despite the Mullinahone keepers’ best efforts it wasn’t enough to keep the ball from going in. Cahir kept pushing after this and began getting chances on the break as Mullinahone committed more men forward. Despite this Mullinahone were bringing equal pressure on the Cahir back 4 and were rewarded a penalty at the death. Philly Dunne made no mistake this time and brought the teams level at 2-2 for the full-time whistle.
Both teams faced a gargantuan task for extra time as the heat on the day and the physical nature of the game had left its toll on both sets of players. Mullinahone despite this seemed to find an extra gear in extra time and got the all-important goal in the first half of extra time after an exceptional ball forward from Oisin Maher found the boot of Jack Ryan who put it past the Cahir keeper. This would turn out to be the winner as Mullinahone fought hard for the remainder of extra time to take the win. Both teams left everything they had on the pitch in a titanic battle which was officiated very well by Mark Haide who let the game flow in what was a great game for the spectators.
Galbally Utd 5-0 Cullen Lattin
A one-sided affair was won by Galbally. Once Tiernan Ryan opened the scoring early, the writing was on the wall for Cullen. Aaron Flynn doubled the lead before half-time and goals from Killian Peters (2) and another from Ryan secured a well-deserved win for the home side.

Munster Junior Cup Semi-Final
Peake Villa 1-2 Pike Rovers
Cooke Park was the venue for this eagerly awaited semi-final. The game started at a frantic pace with both sides sounding each other out.
The opening goal came in the 18th minute when Colin Daly found himself in loads of space after the Villa defence switched off, and it cost them dearly. 0-1 to Pike.
Villa grew into the game and had a great chance from a Michael Quinlan corner in the 27th minute, but Pippy Carroll’s header went just wide of the post.
A minute later, Ronan McGuire broke behind the defence and tried to lift it over the keepers’ head, but the keeper was equal to it and saved the effort.
Pike doubled their lead in the 41st minute when Leon Kirrane scored with a good finish to the bottom corner to make it 0-2 at half time. Villa had to come out in the second half and go at Pike. Ronan McGuire had a great chance in the 57th minute when Darragh Byrne played him in, but his effort hit the side netting.
Pippy Carroll had a shot in the 59th minute, but his effort was excellently saved by Gary Neville. Villa finally broke down the Pike defence in the 77th minute when Darragh Byrne cooly slotted home to make it 1-2.
It was all Villa in the closing stages creating some half chances, but they could not break down a stern Pike defence, and the game finished 1-2.
Tipperary Cup 1/4 Finals
Two Mile Borris 3-1 Cahir Park
Borris qualified for the Tipp Cup semi-final for the second year in a row with a hard-fought win over Cahir Park in Newhill Park. Played in brilliant sunshine with a cool breeze Borris settled well early on with the majority of the ball and came close on a number of occasions before Jake Jordan got on the end of a good move by Urban Nolan and Jamie Lee to slip the ball past the Cahir keeper to put Borris one up after 20 minutes. Josh Coady made a fine save to deny Cahir an equaliser in the 35th minute. With Tom Ryan and Jason Kelly dominating midfield for Borris it stayed one nil to Borris at half time. Borris enjoyed a lot of possession early in the second half, but Cahir defended well and were dangerous on the break. With 20 minutes to go Jake Jordan chased down a long ball and harried the Cahir keeper before winning the ball and slipped Tom Ryan through to put Borris 2 up. Cahir came out now and pushed forward and were rewarded with 10 minutes to go when Josh Davey finished off a fine move to make it 2-1. Cahir put Borris under a lot of pressure with free kicks and corners, but the defence held firm and in injury time Danny Rafter put man of the match Jake Jordan clear and he cooly finished to fire Borris into the semi-final on a 3-1 scoreline.
Cashel Town 1-1 (AET) 2-4 pens Peake Villa
Cashel will be bitterly disappointed to exit the Tipperary cup at the quarter final stage but can’t have many complaints despite squandering numerous chances. Peake B took the lead after 5 minutes when Kevin Croke scored a header from a corner kick which was poorly defended by Cashel. On 22 minutes Cashel were level when Eoin Byrne was upended in the box and Darragh Browne tucked away the penalty to level matters going to the break.
The second half was an end-to-end affair with Cashel having the better chances through Blake Doyle Carroll and Seanie Fitzpatrick but found Davy Purcell hard to pass in the Peake goal. Kieran Hennessy provided a constant threat for Peake especially on the counter attack and missed a great opportunity to win the game in the last minute of extra time.
David Purcell was the hero in the shoutout saving one penalty to see Peake go through 4-2 after penalties.
Peter O’Reilly Cup second round
Tipperary Town 0-1 Rosegreen (No report supplied)
Peter O’Reilly Cup semi-final
Clonmel Celtic 1-3 Cahir Park
Celtic hosted Cahir at the bypass in this semi-final. Cahir started well and created a number of chances, and it took Celtic a bit to settle down. Both sides were now creating chances, but it was Cahir who opened the scoring on 20 minutes with a good finish inside the box.
Celtic made a few adjustments and came back into the game well in the first 15 minutes of the second half and had a great chance to level the game but failed to take it.
As often happens, Cahir went straight up the pitch and made it two nil when a ball broke through in the box and was finished well.
However Celtic rallied again and got one back through Cillian Fitzgerald and continued to push hard, another couple of chance at both ends but it was Cahir who capitalised with five mins to go catching Celtic on the break to claim a 3-1 win.
TSDL Division 1
Galbally 1-2 Powerstown
A double from Paul Kelly sealed the points for Powerstown in a keenly contested league match in Galbally.
Kelly had the visitors in front after 25 minutes before Galbally captain Ger Quinlan equalised just three minutes later.
The second half was nip and tuck and Galbally thought they had found a winner when a close-range scramble was hacked to safety. Powerstown responded and created a chance of their own and Kelly made no mistake, finishing brilliantly to claim all three points for the away side.
Wilderness Rovers 1-0 Cullen Lattin
With a perfect day for a game of football Wilderness welcomed league leaders Cullen Lattin.
Both teams went at it from the off with both defences coming out on top. The first chance arrived for Cullen Latin on 15 minutes when their centre forward picked up a loose pass and went through one-on-one, but the Wilderness keeper Sean Cagney made a terrific save. Wilderness themselves put pressure on the away team with three corners in succession but failed to find the target.
Wilderness came out fast in the second half and on 55 minutes Keith Cashman won a free kick outside the area and picked himself up to find the back of the net from the resulting free kick.
Cullen Lattin threw everything at Wilderness to find an equaliser but with the fantastic work rate of the Wilderness team kept them at bay. The home keeper had to make a couple of saves. Wilderness tried to find a second and on 85 minutes Adam Walsh cut out a pass and laid a great ball on for Keane Farrell who had a strike from 18 yards out but the Cullen lattin keeper pulled off a brilliant save. Cullen threw everything at the Wildies for the last 5 minutes but couldn’t find a way through their defence with Max Ryan, Josh Greene and Ashley Keane standing out for the Wilderness.
TSDL Division 2
Old Bridge 2-6 SC&K Utd (No report supplied)
Ballingarry Albion 2-1 Cashel Town
Ballingarry began the game well and had some early attacks through Eddie Mullaly and Jamie Walsh down the wings. Eoin Burke had the first effort on target after 15 minutes with a left footed strike, but the keeper saved well. Cashel were a threat on the break but were finding chances hard to come by as Ian Ivors, Jonothan Ivors and John Pollard were proving a tough trio to break down. As the half pushed on both teams struggled to maintain possession and tackles were plentiful. Both teams traded corners and from one of these John Pollard rose highest at the back post and found Ian Ivors who saw his shot brilliantly cleared off the line. Michael Ivors began to dictate the game in midfield in the final 10 minutes of the first half and it was Ivors who created the first goal of the game right on the stroke of half time as he played a great ball into Keith Cleere who turned and found Jamie Walsh who was flying down the right wing and met the ball with a great right footed strike to beat the keeper at the far post to send Ballingarry in a goal up at half time.
The late goal could have made the away side drop the heads, but they came flying out for the second half and grabbed an equaliser just 30 seconds in after a well worked short free kick found Jack Browne who again fired a lovely right footed strike across the goal into the bottom corner. Cashel then very nearly took the lead 5 minutes later after a lovely worked counterattack found the striker unmarked in the box but his shot went agonisingly inches wide. With 30 minutes to go the game was very much in the mix but as always, the Ballingarry lads were up to the task and their front three of Riain O’Callaghan, Eoin Burke and Keith Cleere really began to turn the screw and drive the team forward. All three had shots on goal within 10 minutes of each other with Cleere going closest. All three combined to put the home side ahead with 15 minutes left after Cleere won the ball high up the pitch and sent Jamie Walsh down the wing who crossed into the box to find Eoin Burke who kept his composure to find O’Callaghan who fired home. Again, Cashel were very much up to the task at hand and struck the crossbar from a brilliant free kick but it went over off the bar. The last 10 minutes were frantic, and Ricky Cashin was on hand to put in plenty of tackles in midfield and break up play. Eddie Mullaly chased a ball 40 yards to win a throw up the field in the dying minutes which is the effort every team needs when trying to win games.
The final whistle blew not long after as Ballingarry gained another massive three points.
TSDL Division 3
Burncourt Celtic 1 Killenaule Rovers 1
Killenaule were the visitors to Ballyhurrow on Sunday and got off to a brisk start with a couple of early chances, but the home side settled with Dave Baker and Kyle Hayes getting on more ball. Dylan Fitzgerald was unlucky when his close-range shot was saved by the Rovers keeper to leave it 0-0 at halftime.
In the second half both sides went for the win, and it was Killenaule who struck first with Richie Farrell finishing well with a fine strike from the edge of the box; 0-1 to the visitors. Burncourt responded well and were starting to create good chances, but the final ball was getting them down. On 80 minutes they got their reward when James Mulcahy flicked on a ball and Pa Ryan was on hand to poke it past the onrushing keeper to make it 1-1. From here on Celtic looked the more likely and went mighty close with a Sean Gorgan overhead kick but it wasn’t to be, and it finished 1-1 at full time.
Kilsheelan Utd 1-3 Donohill & District
Kilsheelan fell to a three-one defeat at home to Donohill & District FC in a well contested game.
In what was the penultimate home game of the season, the visitors took the lead after 20 minutes when Michael Bradshaw headed home from a corner-kick.
Kilsheelan frustrated the visitors, with Donohill only creating efforts from distance, as they entered the break with a 1-0 lead.
The visitors doubled their lead on the hour mark as Brian Buckley reacted quickest from a corner kick that wasn’t dealt with to give the away side breathing space.
Kilsheelan however halved the deficit on 79’ after Jamie Ryan got beyond his man down the right before laying off to Evan Forristal who fired home on his second attempt to net his eighth goal of the campaign.
As Kilaheelan pushed on looking for a late equaliser, Donohill finished off the game with a third minutes from time, as David Buckley poked home from close-range to seal the points.
