Match Reports Week 14
Saturday 22nd November – Munster Youth Cup (Round 3)
Peake Villa 3 – 1 Moneygall
Peake Villa qualified for the last 16 of the Munster Youth Cup with a hard-earned 3–1 win against a stubborn Moneygall side on a heavy pitch.
Villa started well in the opening 20 minutes, moving the ball neatly but finding it difficult to break down a resolute Moneygall defence. The deadlock was finally broken in the 36th minute when Roman Katrich delivered a fine ball into Charlie Lawlor, who calmly slotted home to make it 1–0.
Struggling to build any rhythm due to the conditions, Villa were caught out in the 68th minute when Moneygall capitalised on a defensive lapse, with Lucian Buga finishing well to level the tie.
However, the equaliser sparked Villa back into life and they responded almost immediately. Jason Patterson was brought down in the box and confidently converted the resulting penalty to restore Villa’s lead at 2–1.
Moneygall pushed forward in search of another equaliser, but in the 83rd minute Villa sealed the win on the counter-attack. James Burke delivered a dangerous cross which was met by Dean Troy, who coolly finished to the net.
Best on the day for Peake Villa were Marcos Zamora, Izaghi Freitas, Brody Donoghue and Dylan O’Dwyer.
Verdict: Not the prettiest football on a heavy surface, but Peake Villa showed great resilience and character to respond when tested and deservedly advance to the last 16, where Lakewood Athletic (Cork) await.

St Michaels 5 – 3 Clonmel Celtic
St Michaels ran out convincing winners buoyed by a blistering start that effectively settled the contest by half time.

Clonmel Celtic responded and came close on 16 minutes, rattling the crossbar. Bresnan and O’Halloran both went close as the Saints continued to dominate. O’Halloran made it 3–0 on 22 minutes after an excellent run along the right wing, forcing the ball over the line, before completing his hat-trick on 40 minutes to send St Michaels into the break with a commanding 4–0 lead.
Donagh Guilfoyle extended that advantage shortly after the restart, finishing off a rebound from an O’Halloran shot to make it 5–0.
Celtic showed great spirit in the second half, pulling goals back through Tristan O’Connor (58’ and injury time) and Brendan Treacy (84’), but the damage had already been done.
