Youth Shield Final
St Michaels 5 – 2 Cahir Park
St Michaels produced a powerful second-half display at Danny O’Dwyer Park in Bohertrine to claim the Youth Shield Final in convincing fashion.
The opening half was evenly contested with both sides showing attacking intent. Cahir Park struck first through Josh Davey before Alfie O’Halloran equalised for Saints. Cahir regained the lead when Liam Kelly finished well, but Saints again responded with Kelly levelling the contest before the interval.
With the sides level at the break, St Michaels shifted through the gears in the second half. Alfie O’Halloran was the standout performer, completing a superb hat-trick as Saints dominated proceedings and ran out comfortable winners.
The victory provides excellent momentum for St Michaels ahead of their upcoming Cup Final against Clonmel Town next Friday evening in Cahir Park.
Match Verdict:
A clinical second-half performance from St Michaels secured silverware, with Alfie O’Halloran’s hat-trick proving decisive.
St Michaels 1 – 3 Two Mile Borris
St Michaels exited the inaugural Premier Shield after falling to Two Mile Borris at Cooke Park.
The home side started brightly with Tom Ryan striking the post on 11 minutes, while goalkeeper Faolan Doyle was alert to deny Urban Nolan shortly after. Saints also threatened from set pieces, with Loran O’Toole heading narrowly over from a Jamie Lee free kick.
Two Mile Borris took the lead on 32 minutes when Jamie Lee finished past Doyle. The visitors doubled their advantage shortly afterwards when Jake Jordan converted from the penalty spot.
Just before the break the tie was effectively settled when Urban Nolan’s effort was judged to have crossed the line to make it 3–0.
The second half never reached the same intensity as both sides used their benches. Saints did pull a goal back late on when Daniel O’Dwyer found the net in the 81st minute, but it proved only a consolation as Borris progressed comfortably.
Match Verdict:
Two Mile Borris showed their experience and efficiency to control the tie and advance with minimal difficulty.

Premier Shield
Cahir Park 4 – 2 Cullen Lattin
Cahir Park overcame Cullen Lattin in an entertaining Premier Shield encounter played in bright conditions.
The home side started strongly and took the lead inside six minutes when Niall Daly won a penalty which Willie O’Dwyer converted confidently. Cullen Lattin responded well and equalised on 17 minutes when Michael Elligott converted from the spot after being fouled.
Cahir regained the lead on 38 minutes when Jack Lawlor headed the ball back across goal from a corner and Niall Daly finished from close range. However Cullen struck again before the break, with Josh Flannery threading a pass through for Michael McElligot who finished neatly to make it 2–2 at half-time.
Cullen began the second half brightly but Cahir’s pace out wide proved decisive. Cian O’Dwyer surged down the right before cutting the ball back for Ryan St John to finish and restore the lead. Just three minutes later Josh Davey struck well to make it 4–2 and effectively settle the contest.
Both teams created further chances but Cahir saw the game out to progress to the next round.
Match Verdict:
Cahir Park’s attacking quality and pace in wide areas proved the difference in a lively and entertaining cup tie.
Balingarry 2 – 0 SC&K United
Balingarry produced a strong second-half display to overcome SC&K United in their quarter-final clash.
The visitors started the brighter side, forcing an early save from David Cashin. As the half progressed Balingarry began to control possession and create opportunities. Darragh Maher came close after an excellent solo run while Jason Sinnott tested the keeper from distance.
Despite the pressure the sides went into the break scoreless.
Balingarry came out with renewed intensity in the second half and took the lead on 56 minutes. Adrian Maher reacted quickest to a rebound and volleyed superbly into the bottom corner from outside the box.
SC&K enjoyed a strong spell in response but solid defending from Ben Ivors, Keith Cleere and Jonathan Ivors kept them at bay. The decisive moment came when goalkeeper David Cashin launched a long pass forward which Darragh Maher chased down before beating two defenders and finishing emphatically from a tight angle.
Balingarry saw out the remainder of the game comfortably to progress.
Match Verdict:
Balingarry’s patience and quality in key moments secured a deserved victory and a place in the semi-final.
Tipperary Town 1 – 3 Galbally (AET)
This was a tightly contested cup tie that required extra time to separate the sides.
Galbally took an early lead through Ger Quinlan, but Tipperary Town responded well with Dylan Cummins finishing a swift counter attack after a fine cross from Vinnie Godfrey.
Both teams created chances throughout the second half but neither could find a breakthrough, sending the game into extra time.
The decisive moment arrived from a set piece when Bernard O’Brien headed Galbally back in front, with the referee adjudging the ball to have crossed the line despite protests from the Tipperary Town defence.
As Tipp Town pushed forward in search of an equaliser they were caught on the counter attack, with Eoin O’Mahony finishing well to seal the victory.
Match Verdict:
A fiercely competitive contest that could have gone either way, but Galbally’s efficiency in extra time proved decisive.
Two Mile Borris (B) 5 – 1 Wilderness
Match Verdict:
A dominant performance from Two Mile Borris B ensured a comprehensive victory and a deserved place in the next round.
Division 2 Shield
Peake Villa (B) 0 – 2 Mullinahone
Peake Villa hosted Mullinahone in the Tower Grounds in what proved to be a frustrating afternoon for the home side.
Both teams started evenly and Villa created the better chances in the first half, with Liam McCormack and Cathal McElgunn both going close.
Villa continued to push after the interval and were unlucky not to take the lead when Darren McGuire forced an excellent save from the Mullinahone goalkeeper.
Against the run of play Mullinahone struck on 70 minutes with a well-taken finish. As Villa pushed forward in search of an equaliser they were caught again, with Mullinahone finishing another attacking move to make it 2–0.
Villa continued to press and nearly pulled one back when Cormac Lanigan forced a superb save before another effort was cleared off the line.
Match Verdict:
Villa will rue missed chances, while Mullinahone showed clinical finishing to take their opportunities and advance.
Division 3 Shield
St Michaels (B) 0 – 4 Cashel Town (B)
Cashel Town B produced a strong second-half performance to defeat St Michaels B.
The first half was relatively uneventful with limited chances created by either side. However, James Harding broke the deadlock on 32 minutes with an excellent strike from 20 yards.
Cashel took full control after the interval. Cian McGrath doubled the lead on 52 minutes after a well-worked move down the left. Just a minute later Harding struck again, rounding the goalkeeper to make it 3–0.
Substitute Cillian Fitzgerald completed the scoring with a similar finish to cap a convincing victory.
Match Verdict:
Cashel Town B dominated the second half and progressed comfortably after a clinical display.
Dualla 3 – 0 Burncourt
Dualla booked their place in the semi-final after a strong all-round performance against Burncourt.
The hosts started brightly and took the lead as early as the sixth minute when Eoin Moloughney finished well. Despite controlling much of the first half, Dualla were unable to extend their lead and went into the interval just one goal ahead.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Dualla maintaining the upper hand. Their second goal arrived on 68 minutes when Paulius Aleknavicius finished neatly after a delivery from the right. Dylan Fogarty sealed the result late on, finishing at the back post in the 87th minute to secure a deserved 3–0 victory.
Match Verdict:
Dualla controlled the match from start to finish and deservedly advanced to the semi-final with a professional performance.
Mullinahone (B) 4 V SC&K (B) 3
Mullinahone produced a remarkable comeback to edge past SC&K in a thrilling Division 3 Shield encounter.
SC&K started the game strongly and struck early when Sleivenamon found the net to give the visitors the lead. Mullinahone struggled to settle and their problems worsened just before the break when a defensive mistake allowed SC&K to double their advantage.
Mullinahone emerged for the second half with renewed determination and quickly began to turn the game around. Their persistence paid off as they scored twice within a 15-minute spell to bring the match level at 2–2. However, the drama was far from over. Spotting the Mullinahone goalkeeper off his line, an alert SC&K player attempted a long-range effort that sailed into the net to restore their lead.
Mullinahone refused to give in and were soon awarded a penalty which was confidently converted to level the contest again at 3–3. With the clock ticking down it looked as though the tie might be heading for extra time, but Mullinahone had the final say. A free kick from just inside the SC&K half was delivered into the box and met perfectly by a Mullinahone striker who finished clinically to put the hosts ahead for the first time just moments before the final whistle.
Match Verdict:
A dramatic cup tie filled with momentum swings, but Mullinahone’s resilience and late winner sealed a memorable comeback victory.
