Tipperary Youth Cup Final
St Michaels 1 – 2 Clonmel Town (AET)
Cahir Park
Clonmel Town were the more threatening side throughout and arguably did enough during normal time to win the game before it eventually went to extra time.
Town started brightly and nearly opened the scoring inside two minutes when Denis Cremins had to be alert to head clear under pressure. The early momentum continued for Town as they pressed high and forced St Michaels onto the back foot.
A rare Saints opportunity came on 16 minutes when a miskick from Town goalkeeper Cuchina gifted possession to Alfie O’Halloran, but quick defensive recovery saw the danger cleared off the line.
Town continued to create chances with Dylan McCormack striking the side netting on 20 minutes before the breakthrough arrived on 25 minutes. Leon Cullen delivered an excellent free kick which was met by Shane Hennessy, whose header found the net to give Town a deserved lead.
Clonmel pushed for a second with Rueben Grace forcing a strong save from Cillian Fitzgerald and McCormack seeing a clever lob rebound off the crossbar with the goalkeeper stranded.
St Michaels responded well and levelled on 36 minutes. A free kick from Denis Cremins caused problems and Alfie O’Halloran rose at the far post to head home.
The second half saw Town continue to create the better openings. On 66 minutes they were awarded a penalty after Dylan McCormack was brought down by Fitzgerald, but the Saints goalkeeper redeemed himself by producing an excellent save from Rueben Grace’s spot kick.
Both teams pushed for a winner late on but neither could find the decisive goal in normal time, sending the Youth Cup Final into extra time.
Match Verdict:
Clonmel Town’s attacking play and constant pressure eventually paid off. They created the better chances throughout and were deserving winners after a highly entertaining Youth Cup Final.
Tipperary Cup Semi Final
Bansha Celtic 2 – 1 Galbally
This was a tense and physical cup semi-final with very little separating the sides early on.
Bansha took the lead on 30 minutes when a cross from the left was brilliantly volleyed home by Jack Crowe. Galbally responded quickly and drew level just five minutes later when a defensive lapse allowed Eoin O’Mahoney to calmly side-foot the ball to the net.
The sides went in level at half time after a tight opening period.
Bansha regained the advantage on 65 minutes when Eamon Quirke showed excellent control inside the box before volleying home from a cross.
Bansha continued to threaten and were unlucky not to extend their lead when an attempted cross was tipped onto the crossbar by the Galbally goalkeeper.
Galbally’s hopes of a comeback were dented when they were reduced to ten men following a mistimed tackle. Despite the setback they pushed hard late on and even thought they had equalised when a late strike found the bottom corner, but the referee had already blown for a free out.
Bansha held on to secure their place in the final.
Match Verdict:
A disciplined and clinical performance from Bansha Celtic. Their ability to take their chances and manage the game after going ahead proved decisive.

But Villa refused to give in and in the 88th minute Pippy Carroll struck again to force extra time.
