Premier League

St Michaels 6 – 0 Cashel Town

St Michaels continued their strong push for the Premier League title with a comprehensive win over Cashel Town at Cooke Park on Wednesday evening. The game was competitive early on, but the match turned when Cashel were reduced to ten men late in the first half.

The Saints broke the deadlock on 26 minutes when Shane Ryan finished from a Jimmy Carr cross. Carr then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot on the half hour mark. Cashel’s task became even harder when Fitzpatrick received a red card before the break, and David Slattery added a third goal just before half time.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Saints firmly in control. Slattery grabbed his second of the night on 56 minutes, heading home from a Donagh Hickey delivery following a Jimmy Carr corner. Daniel O’Dwyer made it five with a long-range strike on 76 minutes, before substitute Alfie O’Halloran capped the night with his first senior goal in the 90th minute.

Match Verdict:
A dominant performance from St Michaels who capitalised on their numerical advantage and remain firmly in the hunt for the Premier League title.

Division 2 Youth Cup Final

Mullinahone 6 – 4 SC&K (After Extra Time)

An incredible Division 2 Youth Cup Final in Cashel saw Mullinahone produce a remarkable comeback to defeat SC&K after extra time.

SC&K made the brighter start and raced into a two-goal lead within the opening ten minutes. Mullinahone struggled to get a foothold in the first half as SC&K looked the stronger side.

The second half saw a completely different Mullinahone side emerge. Within ten minutes they had reduced the deficit to 2-1, before being awarded a penalty which brought the game level at 2-2. SC&K responded brilliantly with two quick goals to restore their advantage at 4-2.

Mullinahone refused to give up. They pulled a goal back to make it 4-3 before dramatically equalising in the closing moments of normal time to force extra time.

Five minutes into extra time Mullinahone struck again to take the lead for the first time at 5-4. With SC&K pushing forward in search of another equaliser, Mullinahone sealed the victory with a sixth goal to cap an unforgettable cup final.

Match Verdict:
A thrilling cup final where Mullinahone’s resilience and never-say-die attitude turned the game around in dramatic fashion.

Premier League

St Michaels 5 – 0 Clonmel Town

St Michaels continued their excellent form with another emphatic victory, this time overcoming Clonmel Town at Cooke Park.

The Saints dominated from the outset with Alfie O’Halloran going close twice before Jimmy Carr opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 18 minutes. Carr doubled the lead with another penalty on 29 minutes after DJ Cremins was fouled in the box.

Daniel O’Dwyer made it 3-0 shortly after the restart when he rounded Keith Flannery and calmly finished. Carr then completed his hat-trick on 54 minutes as Saints stretched their lead to four.

Both teams made several substitutions late in the game and Blessed Ndhlazulwana added the fifth goal on 84 minutes to complete another convincing performance from the league challengers.

Match Verdict:
Another commanding display from St Michaels who are building serious momentum in the title race.

Division 2

Cahir Park 6 – 2 Suirside

Cahir Park produced an impressive attacking display to overcome Suirside in a crucial Division 2 encounter.

The home side took the lead when Darragh Conway rose highest to head home from a corner. Suirside quickly responded after Conway conceded a penalty, which Jason Coffey converted to level the match.

Cahir regained control midway through the half when Kenny Cunningham finished a deep cross from Conor Murphy. Two minutes later Hichem Birem extended the lead with a well taken strike. However, Suirside kept the game alive just before the break when Aaron Polunas scored from close range following a corner to leave it 3-2 at half time.

Cahir Park stepped up their performance after the interval. Rowan Barrett saw an effort tipped onto the bar and Cunningham had a goal ruled out for offside before the striker finally extended the lead on 70 minutes. Cunningham completed his hat-trick seven minutes later with a clever finish in a crowded penalty area.

Patrick McDonagh wrapped up the scoring with a superb strike from the edge of the box in the 88th minute.

Match Verdict:
Cahir Park’s powerful second-half performance secured a vital win as they strengthen their position in Division 2.

FAI Junior Cup Round 4

Clonmel Celtic 0 – 2 Bonagee United

Clonmel Celtic’s FAI Junior Cup journey came to an end following a 2-0 defeat to Donegal side Bonagee United.

The visitors took an early lead after nine minutes when Michael Doherty was given space on the left and fired past Rhys Lonergan. Bonagee looked dangerous throughout the opening half and created several chances, though Celtic defended resolutely to keep the deficit to one goal at the interval.

Celtic improved in the second half and competed much better, but struggled to create clear scoring opportunities. Bonagee almost doubled their lead when T McGonagle’s overhead effort struck the post.

Celtic remained in the contest until the closing moments when an under-hit back pass allowed Adam Rogers to roll the ball into an empty net to seal the win for the visitors.

Match Verdict:
Bonagee United were the stronger side overall, while Celtic’s lack of cutting edge in the final third proved costly.

Division 3

Killenaule 6 – 0 SC&K B

Killenaule produced a dominant performance to record a comfortable 6-0 victory over SC&K B in Division 3.

The home side controlled the game throughout and were clinical in front of goal, securing an emphatic win and an important three points.

Match Verdict:
A commanding performance from Killenaule who were far superior on the day.
