Premier League

Peake Villa 3–1 Two Mile Borris

Peake Villa produced a composed home performance to claim all three points in this eagerly anticipated local derby. Villa set the tempo from the outset, creating two good chances in the first ten minutes with Pippy Carroll and Dale Loughnane both testing Borris keeper Josh Coady. The breakthrough finally arrived on 40 minutes when Keith Cahill sent a clever through ball into Loughnane’s path, and the striker made no mistake with a clinical top-corner finish.

Villa kept their foot on the gas after the restart and doubled their advantage in the 66th minute when Michael Quilnan’s clever pass released Loughnane again, who finished low into the far corner. Borris responded well and were rewarded on 72 minutes when Tony Galvin converted after a spell of pressure. The visitors pressed hard for an equaliser, forcing Willie Tierney into an excellent save from a header late on. Any hope of a comeback was extinguished in the 89th minute when Quilnan again turned provider, this time setting up Kieran Hennessy to seal the win.

Scorers: Dale Loughnane (2), Kieran Hennessy – Tony Galvin
Verdict: Villa were clinical and well-organised throughout, with Loughnane a constant menace. Borris showed fight but lacked the finishing touch to turn pressure into points.

Clonmel Celtic 5–0 Cashel Town

Clonmel Celtic finally got off the mark for the season in stunning fashion with a commanding home victory over Cashel Town. They made a blistering start, going 2–0 up inside four minutes. Tristan O’Connor’s sharp reaction to a loose ball gave Celtic the lead before Jack Lawlor’s speculative cross-shot floated into the top corner to double the advantage. The early goals gave Celtic confidence, and they dominated possession, with Cillian O’Brien adding a third on 24 minutes after brilliant work by Shane Garland.

The highlight of the game came on 35 minutes when O’Connor produced a sensational overhead kick from the edge of the box, looping the ball over the stranded keeper. Fabian Kerton preserved the clean sheet with a superb low save just before the break.

The second half was about game management as Celtic defended solidly and waited for their chance to strike again. With 15 minutes left, Garland capped a tireless display by spotting the keeper off his line and firing a superb effort home from 40 yards to complete the rout.

Scorers: Tristan O’Connor (2), Jack Lawlor, Cillian O’Brien, Shane Garland
Verdict: A statement performance from Celtic, whose attacking quality and defensive discipline combined for a near-perfect display. Cashel never recovered from the early blitz.

Cahir Park 3–2 Clonmel Town

Cahir Park edged a dramatic clash against Clonmel Town in blustery conditions. The hosts took the lead midway through the first half when a high ball caused confusion in the Town defence, forcing Ian Healy to head into his own net. Clonmel pressed hard for an equaliser, but Cahir defended well to take a 1–0 lead into the break.

Eoin Corbett extended the advantage on 53 minutes, rising highest to power home a header from a corner. Town hit back strongly, with Sultan Gazal reducing the deficit on 78 minutes after a goalmouth scramble. Moments later, Evan O’Neill produced a brilliant reflex save to deny Town an equaliser.
