Donohill 2 Vee Rovers 3

Vee Rovers overturned a two-goal half-time deficit to progress from a dramatic first-round tie against Donohill and District. Substitute Harry O’Grady made the decisive contribution, scoring twice as the visitors turned the match around after the interval.

Donohill had put themselves in a commanding position with first-half goals from Ned Lowry, who converted from the penalty spot, and Jack Morrissey. Those strikes left the home side 2–0 ahead and well placed to advance.

Rovers, however, produced the response the tie demanded. A goal from Jack Sullivan and O’Grady’s brace erased Donohill’s advantage and secured a 3–2 victory. It was a painful reversal for the hosts and a memorable recovery for the visitors.

PRO Verdict: O’Grady’s impact from the bench proved decisive in a superb Rovers comeback. Donohill will rue losing a two-goal lead after doing the hard work in the first half.

SC and K United B 1 St Michaels B 3

St Michaels B came from behind to take all three points in SC&K United B’s first home Division 3 fixture of the season at Ballypatrick. The hosts struck first, but Saints turned the score around before the break and secured the result with the final action of the game.

After a tight opening 20 minutes, Antonio Rea gave United the lead in the 23rd minute. Saints responded just after the half-hour through a well-worked move: Ben O’Brien’s precise through ball found Darren Kirwan, who picked out Sean Boland O’Reilly to tap in from close range for his first junior goal.

The visitors then edged ahead shortly before half-time when Mikey Bowes’ header was deflected into the home net. An evenly contested second half offered few clear chances, keeping United within touching distance as the match approached its conclusion.

Jamie Malone finally removed any doubt with the last action of play, firing home from inside the six-yard box to make it 3–1 and ensure the points travelled back to Tipperary Town.

PRO Verdict: Saints showed a strong response to falling behind and made their chances count. United remained in the contest until the closing moments, with Malone’s late finish giving the visitors breathing room at last.

Two Mile Borris B 1 Powerstown 0

Lorcan Delaney’s second-half goal settled a hard-fought meeting of familiar rivals at Newhill as Two-Mile Borris B edged Powerstown. A committed effort from both sides produced a scoreless first half, leaving the contest finely balanced at the break.

The breakthrough arrived in the 50th minute when Delaney scored what proved to be the only goal. With the advantage secured, Borris defended their lead successfully, keeping Powerstown at bay until the final whistle.

It was a narrow but deserved victory for the home side, whose defensive effort ensured that one decisive attacking moment was enough for all three points.

PRO Verdict: Delaney delivered the breakthrough and the Borris defence completed the job. A hard-earned clean sheet proved every bit as valuable as the winning goal.

Cahir Park B 2 Mullinahone 1

An explosive start proved decisive under the lights at Cahir Park as the hosts edged a closely contested meeting between two sides expected to feature towards the top of Division 2. Mullinahone made them work for all three points, but Cahir’s early two-goal advantage gave the home side something valuable to protect.

Josh Davey provided the evening’s standout moment after just three minutes, opening the scoring with a strike worthy of consideration for goal of the season. Cahir continued their bright opening and doubled the lead in the 24th minute when Jack Duggan’s heavily deflected effort found the bottom corner.

Mullinahone responded strongly after the interval and were rewarded in the 58th minute when a shot from outside the penalty area found the bottom corner. That brought the visitors firmly back into contention, but Cahir held on to secure a narrow and valuable victory.

PRO Verdict: A blistering opening and the resolve to protect a slender lead earned Cahir the points. Mullinahone’s second-half response suggests there will be plenty more competitive afternoons ahead for their opponents.

Galbally 1 Ballingarry 5

Keane Hayes bagged a hat-trick and Dylan Meaghar added a brace as Ballingarry came from behind to record an impressive away win. The final score was decisive, but a key save from goalkeeper Dave Cashin helped change the direction of the contest when Galbally were threatening to extend their lead.

Jamie McGrath opened the scoring for Galbally in the 16th minute. Nine minutes later, Liam Carew had a one-on-one opportunity to make it 2–0, only for Cashin to deny him. Ballingarry broke immediately and Hayes finished to bring the visitors level.

That sequence proved pivotal. Hayes struck again in the 43rd minute to put Ballingarry ahead, and Meaghar made it 3–1 on the stroke of half-time. From a promising home start, Galbally suddenly faced a substantial deficit.

Meaghar added his second after 60 minutes to strengthen Ballingarry’s grip, before Hayes completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute. The visitors’ finishing ensured that their first-half turnaround became a convincing five-goal victory.

PRO Verdict: Hayes and Meaghar supplied the goals, but Cashin’s one-on-one save deserves a prominent place in the story. Ballingarry turned that escape into an immediate equaliser and never looked back on the scoreboard.

Clonmel Town 0 Wilderness Rovers 3

Wilderness Rovers claimed a memorable derby victory at the Complex, combining disciplined defending with devastating finishing to defeat Clonmel Town. Haydn Cashman’s spectacular volley was the standout moment in a performance that also featured goals from Ian Cleary and substitute David Cagney.

Town started brightly, with Ben Brown unable to guide an early opportunity on target. Sean Cagney then got down sharply at his near post to turn away Kobie Quinn’s effort in the 16th minute. Rovers gradually committed more bodies forward, and their growing ambition was rewarded after 31 minutes when former Town player Ian Cleary beat Oisin Martin with a strike from 30 yards.

Town made changes at the interval and came desperately close to drawing level when Dylan McCormack met Harry Tobin’s cross. His effort struck the underside of the crossbar before being cleared to safety. The home side continued to enjoy possession, but a Rovers defence in which Jack Connolly excelled held firm.

The visitors doubled their lead in unforgettable fashion on the hour. Michael O’Hara sent the ball out from defence, and Cashman met it from a wide position with a wonderful volley that sailed over Martin. It was a moment of exceptional execution that left Town facing an even steeper task.

With 75 minutes played, David Cagney punished indecision in the home defence, lobbing Martin to make it 3–0. That completed a famous result for Rovers, whose resilience and ability to make their attacking moments count settled the local contest.

PRO Verdict: A complete derby performance from Rovers: organised at the back and clinical when opportunities arrived. Cashman’s volley will live long in the memory, while Connolly’s defending helped provide the platform for victory.

Two Mile Borris 4 Cahir Park 1

Seanie Hawkins struck a second-half hat-trick as Two-Mile Borris overturned a half-time deficit to claim all three points at Newhill Park. Cahir Park had earned their interval lead, but the hosts transformed the contest with four goals after the restart.

Cahir began the brighter and took a deserved lead through Adam Hennessy in the fifth minute. Borris gradually found their way into the game and went close to an equaliser on several occasions, but the visitors retained their 1–0 advantage until half-time.

The response was immediate after the break. Ben Slattery’s excellent through ball released Jason Kelly to level in the 47th minute, and Hawkins put Borris in front from the penalty spot after 58 minutes. Urban Nolan then supplied the pass for Hawkins to score his second in the 70th minute.

Five minutes later, Hawkins completed his treble in style. Set up by Jack Cleary, he unleashed a powerful effort from 20 yards to make it 4–1 and seal a victory that keeps Borris in contention towards the top of the table.

PRO Verdict: A superb second-half response from Borris, with Hawkins’ finishing turning a difficult opening into an emphatic win. Cahir’s strong start was undone by the hosts’ sustained attacking impact after the interval.

Clonmel Town 5 Cahir Park 1

Clonmel Town continued their encouraging start to the season with a convincing cup win, although a spirited Cahir Park side contributed more to the contest than the final score might suggest. On an excellent playing surface, Town enjoyed the greater share of possession, while Cahir carried a threat through direct attacks.

Town’s early control produced few clear chances, and it was a well-chased ball at the other end that forced their goalkeeper into a low save. The breakthrough came when Shay Scully closed down the Cahir goalkeeper and the attempted clearance rebounded into the net. Cahir then came agonisingly close to levelling when their number nine lobbed the Town keeper, only to see the ball strike the post.

Town made that escape count as Leon Kelly broke down the left and squared for Peter O’Brien to finish at the back post. Cahir remained in the contest, pulling a goal back when a direct ball reached their winger, who chipped the advancing goalkeeper to reduce the deficit to 2–1.

The home side took control after the break. Fred French Davis restored the two-goal cushion with a shot the goalkeeper could only parry into the net, before O’Brien claimed his second with 16 minutes remaining. A fifth goal from a corner completed the scoring as a tiring Cahir side struggled to contain the sustained pressure.

PRO Verdict: Town’s possession and second-half pressure eventually told, with O’Brien’s brace central to the victory. Cahir’s first-half threat and determination deserve recognition despite the eventual margin.

St Michaels 2 Holycross 0

Alex Crowe’s first-half double sent St Michaels into the next round following a performance that could have produced a wider winning margin. Saints created a succession of openings before the interval, with Holycross goalkeeper Aidan Humphreys repeatedly called into action.

Davy Hogan narrowly missed from a Luke Webster cross after five minutes, and Webster went close himself two minutes later. Humphreys turned a Hogan free-kick around the post in the 16th minute, before Robert Swords headed just wide and Cathal Maguire threatened from another Hogan delivery.

The breakthrough arrived after 22 minutes when Crowe’s shot from 20 yards went in off the right-hand post. Saints kept pressing: Webster forced another save, Cian O’Connell struck the crossbar in the 33rd minute, and Crowe tested Humphreys after turning well. On the stroke of half-time, Crowe converted from Christian Flanagan’s cross to make it 2–0.

The second half was a more disjointed affair, though Swords almost extended the lead when his follow-up header struck the post after 49 minutes. Both benches were used, Maguire headed off target from a Hogan corner, and Hogan went close after good work down the right. Holycross threatened twice late on through Cian Champion, but Saints had done enough to secure their passage.

PRO Verdict: Crowe supplied the finishing touches to a strong first-half performance. Saints created enough to win more comfortably, but two goals and a clean sheet delivered the required result.

Mullinahone won 4–1 on penalties.

Mullinahone advanced from a cup tie that remained level at 2–2 after extra time, overcoming North Tipperary opponents Borrisokane in the penalty shoot-out. With neither side ahead after the additional period, the visitors settled the contest by a decisive 4–1 margin on penalties.

It was a narrow exit for Borrisokane and a welcome knockout success for Mullinahone, who emerged from the extended contest with a place in the next round.

PRO Verdict: Mullinahone delivered when the tie reached its decisive stage. A 4–1 shoot-out success provided a clear conclusion to an otherwise evenly matched scoreline.

Cullen Lattin 2 Peake Villa 9

Jason Patterson produced a remarkable five-goal display as Peake Villa powered into the next round at Aisling Park. The First Division visitors showed their attacking quality against Second Division Cullen Lattin, with Dean Troy also scoring twice in a nine-goal haul.

Villa wasted little time establishing control. Troy finished from Luke Doyle’s through ball after five minutes, Patterson added a second from a James Ryan cross in the eighth minute, and Ryan scored himself after being set up by Calvin Wade on 15 minutes.

Mark Ryan pulled one back for Cullen in the 30th minute, but Villa restored their three-goal advantage before the break. Doyle supplied another telling pass in the 40th minute and Patterson finished for his second, leaving Villa 4–1 ahead at the interval.

Patterson completed his hat-trick five minutes into the second half from another James Ryan assist, then struck again in the 55th minute. Isaac Anafi replied for Cullen on the hour, but Patterson turned provider after 70 minutes to set up Oscar Caffery. Patterson’s fifth followed in the 75th minute before Troy completed the scoring with his second after 80 minutes.

PRO Verdict: Patterson’s five goals will take the headlines, but Villa’s supply from Doyle, Ryan and their fellow attackers was equally telling. Cullen kept contributing to the contest, though the visitors’ firepower proved overwhelming.
