Donohill B 1 v Dualla 2

Dualla claimed all three points on the road with a 2–1 victory over Donohill B. Stephen Walsh and Rafael Fernando dos Santos supplied the visitors’ goals, while Brian Fenton scored the home side’s consolation.

Walsh and dos Santos shared the scoring responsibility for Dualla, providing the two goals that ultimately separated the visitors from their hosts. Fenton ensured Donohill B had something on the scoresheet, but his contribution was not enough to earn a share of the points.

With only a single goal between the teams at the finish, Dualla will be pleased to leave with the full reward from their trip. For Donohill B, the frustration is a narrow home defeat, with Fenton’s goal offering a positive on an otherwise disappointing day.

PRO Verdict: Walsh and dos Santos provided the goals that earned Dualla a valuable away result. Donohill B’s consolation kept the final margin narrow, but the visitors took the points.

Tipperary Town B 0 v Mullinahone B 3

Mullinahone B enjoyed a successful away outing, recording a 3–0 victory over Tipperary Town B to secure all three points. A three-goal return gave the visitors a convincing winning margin, and the clean sheet added further satisfaction to the result.

For Town B, it was a disappointing home scoreline, with no goal to offset the three conceded. Their next outing offers an opportunity to respond, with improvement needed at both ends to turn the result around.

Mullinahone B, meanwhile, can take encouragement from an away result that rewarded them on the scoreboard and left their own goal intact. Only the final score was supplied for this fixture.

PRO Verdict: Three goals away from home and none conceded make this a strong result for Mullinahone B. Town B will look for a response next time, while the visitors have a positive outcome to build upon.

St Nicholas 2 v SC&K B 0

St Nicholas claimed their first league win of the season after taking a first-half lead and adding a late second against SC&K B. The visitors remained in contention for much of the game, with an excellent goalkeeping save preventing Aaron Costin from bringing them level.

A tight opening produced few clear chances before St Nicholas broke the deadlock on the counterattack. SC&K B came close to clearing the danger but could not prevent the opener, leaving the hosts with a narrow lead at the interval.

The visitors’ best opportunity to equalise arrived midway through the second half. Costin’s effort forced the St Nicholas goalkeeper into a superb fingertip save, preserving a lead that was still far from secure.

As SC&K B committed more players forward in search of a goal, St Nicholas found the space to settle the contest. A close-range finish inside the final ten minutes doubled their advantage and ensured the points stayed with the home side.

SC&K B welcomed captain Eamon Fitzgerald back to the squad following his wedding. The club extended its congratulations to Eamon and his bride, Stacy, on their marriage.

PRO Verdict: The goalkeeper’s save from Costin was a key moment at 1–0, and St Nicholas capitalised late on to secure their first league victory. SC&K B stayed competitive, but could not turn their second-half opportunity into the equaliser they needed.

Powerstown 3 v Vee Rovers 2

Captain David Grace struck twice, including a superb second-half winner, as Powerstown edged a five-goal contest at Redmondstown. Vee Rovers recovered from two goals down before half-time and threatened another comeback, but the hosts held on with goalkeeper Peter Boland making important interventions.

Powerstown went ahead in the ninth minute when Aaron Kiely’s ball in behind caused confusion between the visiting goalkeeper and centre-back. Dylan Bates seized the opportunity and rolled into an empty net. The lead doubled in the 21st minute after Grace was fouled in the area and converted the penalty himself.

Vee began to ask questions through a series of long throws, and Boland produced a brilliant point-blank save to preserve the two-goal cushion. The visitors eventually broke through in the 41st minute when Lorcan Butler scored with an excellent free kick. Three minutes later, a clearance fell to Dylan Flynn on the edge of the box, and he fired home to complete the comeback before the interval.

The second half brought more attacking intent from both sides. Boland denied Butler with an excellent one-on-one save, and Powerstown regained the lead in the 54th minute. John Allan Lowes laid the ball off to Grace on the edge of the area, and the captain struck a sweet half-volley into the top right corner.

Vee continued to press. Substitute Christopher English came closest to another equaliser when his effort beat Boland but struck the crossbar, with Powerstown surviving the danger as the ball came back into play. The hosts stood firm through the closing stages to claim a hard-earned win.

PRO Verdict: Grace’s winning strike was a fitting highlight in an absorbing match, but Boland’s saves were every bit as important to the result. Vee showed considerable character to erase a two-goal deficit and came close to taking something from the game.

Suirside 0 v Two Mile Borris B 1

A 71st-minute goal earned Two Mile Borris B a narrow away victory as Suirside’s first home fixture of the season ended in disappointment. Both sides attacked from the outset, but the visitors created more opportunities and eventually found the finish that separated the teams.

Brendan Cummins made several important saves to keep Suirside in the contest, while Conor Makim impressed in defence on his return to the side. Their contributions helped the hosts withstand the visitors’ threat and kept the game finely balanced.

Suirside fashioned chances of their own after the interval, and a penalty appeal involving Darren Slattery was turned down. With neither side yet on the scoresheet, the match remained open until Two Mile Borris struck in the 71st minute.

The hosts continued to battle for an equaliser, but the visiting lead held. After a competitive encounter, Two Mile Borris left with all three points and a clean sheet.

PRO Verdict: Two Mile Borris made their greater share of opportunities count with the decisive second-half goal. Cummins and Makim helped keep Suirside competitive, but the hosts could not find the attacking breakthrough needed to secure a point.

Old Bridge 1 v Cahir Park B 2

Cahir Park B emerged from Green Lane with a deserved victory, although a spectacular late strike from Declan Nee ensured a tense finish. Before kick-off, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of Eddie Sweetman.

Both teams had credible opportunities during the opening stages, but it was Cahir who took the lead in the 28th minute. Old Bridge failed to clear their lines fully, and Ger Quinn was on hand to punish the mistake. The visitors doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time when David Conway met a corner with a powerful header.

Cahir increased the tempo after the break and created chances to put the outcome beyond doubt, but some costly misses kept Old Bridge in contention. The hosts continued to compete and remained a threat from set pieces even as the visitors sought a third goal.

With ten minutes remaining, Nee collected the ball outside the area and, with few options available, struck a powerful shot into the top of the net. That excellent finish changed the mood of the closing stages and prompted a determined Old Bridge push for an equaliser.

Cahir held on to secure the points, having done enough across the game to merit the win. Old Bridge’s spirited response made the visitors work to the end, but the two first-half goals ultimately proved decisive.

PRO Verdict: Cahir’s chance creation and first-half finishing support their credentials as a side to watch in the promotion race. More clinical finishing after the break would have spared them a nervous finale, while Old Bridge can take encouragement from their refusal to give up.

Mullinahone 0 v Cashel Town B 1

A late goal secured all three points for Cashel Town B after a closely contested meeting with Mullinahone. Both sides created opportunities, but the visitors supplied the decisive finish in the latter stages of the second half.

Cashel started well, enjoying plenty of possession and establishing an early measure of control. For all that promising approach play, the visitors could not find a first-half breakthrough. Mullinahone also created opportunities, ensuring Cashel had concerns of their own at the other end, but neither side could produce the finishing touch. The teams went in at half-time with the game still goalless and very much there to be won.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with opportunities at both ends and the result still open. Each unconverted chance left the next attack carrying greater significance as both teams searched for the goal that could settle matters.

Cashel eventually found that breakthrough late in the half. After a game in which both sides had struggled to make their opportunities count, the visitors finally had the advantage, and the single goal proved enough to take all three points. For Mullinahone, the narrow defeat left the frustration of knowing their own chances might have produced a different outcome.

PRO Verdict: Cashel turned a tight contest in their favour by taking the late opportunity that mattered. Mullinahone will rue their own unconverted chances in a match settled by a single goal.

Clonmel Town 5 v Galbally 1

Ben Brown completed his second hat-trick of the season as Clonmel Town returned to winning ways, although the final score was harsh on a Galbally side that played almost the entire match with ten men and continued to carry a threat.

An early dismissal following an incident on the goal line left the visitors facing 87 minutes a player short. Graham Kelly converted the resulting penalty, but Galbally responded impressively. They made good use of possession, and Cilléin O’Brien came close to equalising in the 22nd minute.

Brown missed an inviting chance from Shay Scully’s cross before making amends in the 35th minute, rising to head home Graham Kelly’s corner. Eight minutes later, Stephen Kelly’s excellent lob from the edge of the box beat Adam O’Keeffe to put Town three goals clear. Galbally still threatened before the interval, with Patrick Murphy’s 25-yard strike drawing a fine fingertip save from Oisin Martin.

Town created further chances after the restart but did not immediately find the fourth goal. Instead, Peter Morrissey brought Galbally back into the contest in the 65th minute with a shot from the edge of the area that left Martin rooted to the spot.

The game opened up as both teams attacked, and Town eventually made their numerical advantage count late on. Brown finished neatly from Mark O’Meara’s pass in the 86th minute before showing excellent composure to complete his hat-trick with almost the final kick.

PRO Verdict: Brown’s finishing secured the headlines, but Galbally’s effort deserves recognition. The visitors remained competitive despite the early dismissal, and Town needed their late goals to put a more convincing margin on a game that had demanded plenty of them.

Ballingarry 2 v Peake Villa B 1

Keane Hayes delivered the winning goal in a closely contested encounter that remained in doubt until the final moments. Ballingarry had opportunities to make the result more comfortable, but Peake Villa B came agonisingly close to taking a point at the death.

The hosts enjoyed the better start, with Jonothan Lawlor denied by the goalkeeper’s outstretched foot in a one-on-one after 15 minutes. Seven minutes later, Lawlor made no mistake from close range. Hayes beat two opponents and struck across goal, with the rebound falling for Lawlor to finish.

Villa drew level against the run of play when Robbie Jordan capitalised on a goalkeeping error to score into an empty net. The equaliser lifted the visitors, and the remainder of the half was more evenly balanced, although neither side fashioned another clear opening.

Villa began the second half with more possession, but both defences stood firm. Hayes then came desperately close with a fierce 30-yard effort that struck the underside of the crossbar, hit the post and bounced on the line before the goalkeeper gathered.

His reward arrived soon afterwards. Lawlor beat a defender and fed Hayes, who fired past the goalkeeper from the edge of the area. Villa pushed forward during the final 15 minutes, and Ballingarry failed to capitalise on a two-against-one break that could have settled matters. That miss almost proved costly when Tristan Kelly pulled a late opportunity narrowly wide.

PRO Verdict: Hayes was central to both Ballingarry goals and unfortunate not to score with his spectacular long-range effort. The hosts earned the win, but Villa’s late chance showed how precarious a single-goal lead can remain when opportunities to finish the game are missed.

Tipperary Town 1 v Rosegreen 6

Rosegreen’s clinical finishing brought them a convincing away win, with Corey Hynes and Alex O’Sullivan each scoring twice. Elliott Thompson and Christopher Brabston also found the net as the visitors punished a Tipperary Town side unable to build on a promising start.

Town created a couple of good opportunities in the opening ten minutes, but Rosegreen struck with their first attack. Hynes finished well to give the visitors the lead, and Town’s early momentum faded as Rosegreen took control of the scoring.

By early in the second half, the away side were three goals clear. Olek Ivanov offered Town a lifeline by reducing the deficit to 3–1, but Rosegreen scored again immediately to extinguish hopes of a sustained comeback.

Further late goals completed the 6–1 result. Town were left to reflect on the opportunities they had created early on and the speed with which their second-half goal was answered, while Rosegreen left with a substantial reward for their finishing.

PRO Verdict: Rosegreen’s efficiency in front of goal decided the contest. Their immediate response to Town’s goal was particularly important, preventing the hosts from building confidence and allowing the visitors to finish strongly.

Wilderness 1 v SC&K 0

Michael O’Hara’s powerful second-half strike settled a fiercely contested encounter, but Wilderness also needed determined late defending and an important Sean Cagney save to secure the points.

The first half offered little space for either attack. SC&K defended in numbers, while Wilderness worked hard to find openings in a physical contest. The visitors carried a threat with diagonal deliveries and almost profited late in the half, only for a ball to the back post to run just beyond the arriving attacker.

The battle remained intense after the restart, with both sides making changes as they searched for a breakthrough. Two Wilderness substitutes played central roles in the decisive move shortly after the 70-minute mark. Ian Clery’s smart footwork and Pa Meehan’s determined work around the edge of the area helped release O’Hara, who drove a thunderous shot into the bottom left corner.

SC&K responded by committing players forward and forced Wilderness into some last-ditch defending. Their right-back came closest with a powerful effort that Cagney tipped over the bar. At the other end, Meehan broke through as space opened up, but the visiting goalkeeper saved his effort.

SC&K continued to press until the finish, yet Wilderness protected their narrow advantage to take all three points.

PRO Verdict: The substitutes helped unlock a game of few clear openings, and O’Hara supplied a finish worthy of deciding it. Wilderness then backed up that moment with the defensive work required to hold off SC&K’s late response.

Peake Villa 3 v Cashel 0

Two goals from Pippy Carroll and an important penalty save from Willie Tierny helped Peake Villa secure a hard-earned home victory over Cashel. Villa took their opportunities at key moments, with Kieren Hennessy adding the third after a lively contest.

Both teams approached the opening half with intent, but clear chances were limited. It took Carroll’s free kick in the 38th minute to break the deadlock, his effort finding the bottom corner. Villa soon doubled their advantage when Hennessy played Carroll through to score his second.

Cashel had a clear opportunity to change the course of the game in the 52nd minute when they were awarded a penalty. Ian Healy stepped up, but Tierny made an excellent save to preserve Villa’s two-goal advantage and deny the visitors a route back into the contest.

Villa completed the scoring in the 79th minute. Carroll came close to a hat-trick when his effort struck the crossbar, and Hennessy reacted quickest to turn home the rebound. The result rewarded Villa’s finishing and the goalkeeper’s crucial contribution at the other end.

PRO Verdict: Carroll supplied the goals that put Villa in charge, while Tierny’s penalty save protected that position at a critical stage. Hennessy’s involvement in the second and third goals rounded off an effective attacking display.

Cullen 1 v Cahir Park 6

Cahir Park produced a powerful second-half response to Cullen’s equaliser, with Ryan St John’s quick double opening the way for an emphatic away victory. The final margin was built late on after Cullen had remained firmly in the contest for almost an hour.

Cahir began brightly and forced Darren Heuston into two saves during the opening ten minutes. Cullen gradually settled, although they struggled to create clear chances of their own. The hosts dealt with a series of corners before Niall Daly finally made the breakthrough in the 40th minute with a tidy finish.

Cullen returned for the second half with renewed purpose and drew level in the 55th minute. A good passage of play ended with Tony O’Neill firing home, giving the home side a foothold and setting up an intriguing final half-hour.

Cahir’s reaction was immediate in intent and decisive on the scoresheet. St John struck in the 66th and 70th minutes to establish a 3–1 lead, and the visitors continued to press forward. Late goals from Cillian Carrigan, William O’Dwyer and Rhys Byron completed a six-goal return.

PRO Verdict: St John’s double was the turning point, transforming a level contest into a commanding Cahir lead. Cullen deserve credit for their equaliser, but Cahir’s ability to increase the tempo and keep scoring made the closing stages one-sided.

Clonmel Town 5 v Clonmel Celtic 0

Clonmel Town secured their place in round two with a convincing derby victory, taking an early grip on proceedings and maintaining their threat throughout. Leon Kelly Joyce’s two-goal contribution earned him the man-of-the-match honours, while Adrian Moore’s late penalty save ensured Town finished with a clean sheet.

Town needed only four minutes to make the breakthrough. Celtic could not deal with Kelly Joyce’s free kick, and Cian Ryan reacted quickest to apply a neat finish. Kelly Joyce then got on the scoresheet himself, meeting an excellent delivery from Eoin Gregory to give the hosts a 2–0 interval advantage.

Celtic needed a response after the restart, but Town struck the next blow. Kelly Joyce cut in from the touchline and fired past goalkeeper Keating for his second and Town’s third. Celtic continued to compete, with Thaddeus Burns narrowly clearing the crossbar as the visitors searched for a way back.

Leon Hewitt added the fourth in the 70th minute after a neat exchange with captain Evan Gregory, who converted a penalty ten minutes later. Celtic were subsequently reduced to ten men but had a late opportunity for a consolation from the spot. Moore denied Luke Hanton, bringing an eventful contest to a close.

PRO Verdict: Town’s early goals established control, and Kelly Joyce supplied the attacking quality to take the tie away from Celtic. The visitors kept going, but Town progressed with a convincing result and a clean sheet to match.

Cahir Park 1 v Peake Villa 1

Cahir Park earned their first point of the season after recovering from a first-half setback, although the home side’s performance left them with reason to feel that all three points were within reach.

Despite Cahir enjoying good spells of play, Villa took the lead midway through the opening half. Evan Cotter’s save diverted the ball onto the crossbar, and Charlie Lawlor was on hand to turn the rebound into the unguarded net from close range.

Cahir continued to build promising moves and found their reward shortly after the interval. Séan Kiely, Sam Grogan and Travis McLoughlin combined in a flowing passage of play before Lennon Caplice, a threat throughout, supplied the clinical finish to restore parity.

Further opportunities followed for the hosts, but a winning goal proved elusive. Villa left with a share of the points, while Cahir had their first league point secured and an encouraging performance to build upon.

PRO Verdict: Cahir’s response to falling behind was the strongest feature of their display. Caplice’s equaliser capped an excellent team move, but converting more of their opportunities will be key to turning performances like this into victories.

Cullen 2 v Ballingarry 5

Ballingarry recovered from an outstanding early Cullen goal to claim all three points, with James Egan and Danny Cashin each scoring twice in an entertaining seven-goal encounter.

After a frantic opening, Cullen’s Isaac Anafi produced the first moment of real quality in the ninth minute. Cutting inside, he unleashed a superb 25-yard strike into the top corner. Ballingarry responded with an excellent team goal midway through the half. TJ Cleere and Jack Morrissey helped work the ball to Cashin, whose pass released Darragh Lawrence to deliver the cross for Egan’s close-range finish.

Cullen sent two efforts wide before Lawrence again made an impact down the left, cutting inside and drawing a foul in the area. Cashin converted the resulting penalty in the 42nd minute to give Ballingarry a 2–1 half-time lead.

The hosts began the second half brightly but could not turn that spell into an equaliser. Egan then gathered the loose ball following a blocked shot, wrong-footed his marker and rolled home Ballingarry’s third. Lawrence added a fine fourth after linking with Jack Morrissey, driving down the left and curling his effort into the top corner.

Aidan Morrissey helped create the fifth, breaking through and clipping the ball over the goalkeeper for Cashin to win the race and finish into the empty net. Mark Ryan’s late direct free kick completed the scoring for Cullen.

PRO Verdict: Ballingarry’s response to Anafi’s opener was decisive. Their combination play created several excellent goals, with Lawrence heavily involved and Egan and Cashin providing the finishes. Cullen produced moments of quality but could not halt the visitors’ second-half scoring.

SC&K 1 v Vee Rovers 3

Vee Rovers made their fast start count, scoring twice inside the opening 15 minutes before withstanding SC&K’s attempts to recover. On both occasions, the hosts were caught by high balls over the top, leaving themselves an early two-goal deficit.

Adam Blanchfield reacted quickest to a loose ball to pull one back before the interval, and SC&K had a major opportunity from a corner to draw level during the second half. That chance went unconverted, and a deflected Vee free kick subsequently restored the visitors’ two-goal cushion.

Ben Roche nearly reduced the deficit with five minutes remaining, but the Vee goalkeeper produced an excellent save. SC&K enjoyed plenty of possession, yet could not create enough clear openings to overturn the damage done in the opening stages.

PRO Verdict: Vee’s early efficiency proved the difference. SC&K showed a response through Blanchfield and had chances to make the contest closer, but the missed opportunity at 2–1 and Vee’s third goal left the hosts with too much to recover.

Cashel Town 9 v Peake Villa B 2

Milo Bourke struck four times as Cashel Town delivered an emphatic attacking performance against Peake Villa B. Cashel carried a 3–0 lead into the interval and continued to find the net after the break, with five players sharing their nine goals.

Bourke set the tone with finishes in the 25th, 36th and 45th minutes, completing his hat-trick before adding a fourth in the 46th. His burst of scoring left Villa facing a substantial deficit and gave Cashel firm control of the contest.

S Fanning pulled one back for the visitors in the 65th minute, only for Harry O’Connor to respond for Cashel a minute later. C. Hynes added another in the 73rd minute, and although Fanning struck again in the 75th, Hynes claimed his second two minutes later to make it 7–2.

Cashel maintained their scoring touch into the closing stages. C. O’Sullivan made it eight in the 86th minute, before Opera M added the ninth two minutes later to complete a comprehensive home victory.

PRO Verdict: Bourke’s four-goal haul was the standout contribution, but Cashel’s spread of scorers also deserves credit. Villa found two goals through Fanning, yet could not contain a home attack that continued to punish them throughout.
